Discover our Work

A showcase of projects we’ve developed  — from early-stage R&D to real-world applications.

At Circular Matters, every project is a collaboration. Whether we’re developing new materials for specific applications or upcycling unique sidestreams, our work is rooted in real needs and tested in real conditions. Explore some of our past projects below.

CornWall®
– for FRONT Materials

Traditional tiles have large carbon footprint. Much fossil gas required for firing, heavy clay has to transported over a long distance, and tiles are not recyclable.

CornWall® is different. Low in carbon emission. Made with 100% clean energy. Made from non-feed biomass, like corn cob. Recyclable into new tiles after use, or otherwise biodegradable. It’s a tile or sheet material intended for vertical wall applications made from regional organic waste (mainly corncob cores). Application includes vertical wall finishing for the interior, such as walls, backsplashes of bars and hotel rooms, and panelling.

GrassMarble
– for Bio-Planet

GrassMarble is a solid, coloured-in-the-core panel made from grass offcuts and other biobased ingredients. Unlike traditional boards that use a thin eco-look surface layer, GrassMarble is 100% biobased and consistent throughout — in structure, performance, and appearance.

We developed this material in collaboration with Bio-Planet, the sustainable supermarket chain, to align with their circular and climate-positive ambitions. The result: richly textured green panels in a standard size of 120 × 60 cm, ready for use in interior applications that demand both aesthetics and authenticity.

K Bio
– for ETAP

K Bio is a circular emergency lighting fixture developed by ETAP for sustainable building environments. The design bridges the worlds of craft and industry, featuring a textured surface inspired by the centuries-old gouging technique — a nod to tradition within a forward-thinking product.

Built according to circular design principles, K Bio can be assembled and disassembled without glue or permanent joints, enabling easy repair, reuse, and end-of-life recovery. It’s not just about performance — it’s about creating products that fit within the architecture of a regenerative future.

It’s made with a 100% bio-based material made from ingredients like reed.

This product was made in collaboration with the wonderful designers of Studio Part, and won a HVDV design award.
